The other morning, while checking on the hens in the garden and staring absentmindedly out the conservatory window, I spotted a small, round bird bouncing about in the hedge.
I’d never heard of a long tailed tit until it came up on my Merlin app a couple of weeks ago. I’ve still never seen one but now I will be looking out for a cotton ball with a ruler attached. 😁
Haha, I didn't know how else to describe them, and that was the first thing that came to mind. They're very small and very cute! I hope you manage to spot one soon.
My first sighting was last Spring, then randomly from then.
This year I've been lucky to have had several over the last few days. Pecking away at the coconut shells, filling up with food. Last evening there were two, one showing the other how to feed, that's what it looked like.
Yes, wonderful little birds, busy, noisy and great to see.
Oh wow, what a fantastic experience. Maybe it was a young one being taught? Perhaps I need to offer them the coconut feeders, see if I can get them to visit more regularly.
ooh it's so cute and beautiful! I love it's long tail 😍
They are so tiny and precious; we have seen them in the garden here, but not very often 🌱
I agree, they're lovely little birds. I hope they return to your garden very soon. Thank you for reading.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a long tailed tit before but it was lovely learning a bit about them.
Thank you for sharing your garden visitor with us 🐦⬛
Thank you for reading Debbie. I hadn't seen one until recently, they're delightful little birds.
