I’ve always loved trees. I don’t actually go around hugging them but I’ve always loved being amongst them.
As children we kids of the village had the most amazing woodlands nearby to play in. We all enjoyed (and benefited from) being in the woods.
Ten years ago I started monitoring certain species of wildlife. Each week I walked a set route. I took our dog and my camera and we both loved it. Part of the route was through woodland.
Whenever I put my camera gear by the door our dog gets excited as she thinks we are off to the woods again. I think she knows the benefits of forest (woodland) bathing!
It's honestly crazy how much of an effect being in a forest can have! I've noticed since I've moved to our current spot, every day I come home from work and the moment I drive in between the trees and I'm surrounded by all the lush green scenery I feel my body relax.
My partner and I have been taking a daily walk at our county park for over 20 years now. The things we have seen, heard, felt are sometimes indescribable but so enriching. Just yesterday, a hawk flew right across our path and into the tall pines.
Yes, we reap so many benefits from these daily encounters. Thanks for writing this!
Wow that sounds amazing! We often get the birds of prey around here too, it puts me on edge a little when my hens are free ranging but so far, we've been lucky and all hens remain safe and well.

I totally agree! It's a surreal feeling to be surrounded by tall trees and endless nature.
